Our Why

Shala’s been a full-time entrepreneur since 2005. She’s owned and operated several businesses at the same time (because she’s either really ambitious or really crazy), from a branding and design firm to a coworking space for creatives.

As a certified branding expert who has helped brand hundreds of organizations, she combines her brand strategy, her love of supporting women, and her passion for telling powerful stories into her photography sessions. She couldn't be more excited about every opportunity she has to ignite confidence in women as they courageously chase their callings.

A Few Fun Facts

Hot Tamales are my go-to sugar fix.
I’m a proud mixed baby to an African-American Navy sailor and a Filipina who were married for 26 years until death did them part.
I’m an ordained minister and itinerant preacher, working on my Doctor of Ministry at Houston Theological Seminary.
I was commissioned by the Smithsonian to photograph for their Jubilee exhibition when I was a student at Howard University.

I’ve been a full-time creative entrepreneur since 2005.
Deep inside, I am the warrior Mulan (from the live-action movie). I fight for the people that matter most to me.
Ice cream makes everything better.
My earliest memory is my dad telling me I’m the most beautiful, smartest girl in the entire world who could be anything I wanted. I still believe him.
