Minority Fellowship Program Reception Photography

The Minority Fellowship Program is the only fellowship that provides funding and wraparound support for minority nurses pursuing advanced degrees in psychiatric-mental health and substance abuse services. In the fall, I worked with this program to develop their online communications plan, from their target audience and positioning to their social media strategy and article topics.

This June, they brought all of their fellows into DC for a conference where they did legislative training before sending them out to Capitol Hill to meet with their representatives to advocate for the program, for nurses, and for psychiatric-mental health funding. After their time on the hill, where many of them got to meet Auntie Max (Congresswoman Maxine Waters), they had a rooftop reception where they were able to share the progress they made and express their appreciation for the program. With my mind still on their communications plan, I also spent time capturing headshots for the program to use for alumni profiles on their website and social media.

Shala was professional and blended great with the event participants, not to be noticed yet positioned well for obtaining great shots. She did a fantastic job taking great candid shots that were high-quality. She was also able to prep our Fellows on the spot to take great headshots, as well, which I’m sure many have utilized for the professional profiles.
